OptiTools Authorization Troubleshooter

1. Enter Your Authorization Key

Click Setup on the File menu. The Setup window will appear.

If you use a proxy server, you should have already entered the proxy server settings here.

Authorization Key:This is a string that was sent to you in a “thank-you” email when you purchased the OptiTools program. This key enables the software. Without an authorization key, the OptiTools software allows you to do limited analysis.

After entering the authorization key, hit “accept”, quit the software, and reopen it. The only time an OptiProgram looks at the authorization key is when the software starts.

2. Verify That The OptiTool Program Is Unlocked

When you press Accept on the Setup dialog, the OptiTools program verifies your key using our authorization server and then unlocks the purchased features of the program. After the authorization code has been accepted, various features of the program will be unlocked. [show a pointer to the now enabled features.] In OptiLink, the search engine counts have been unlocked. Instead of being fixed at 10 links from Hotbot, you will be able to select any number of links from any of the search engines. In OptiSpider demo mode you were locked at a maximum of 5 pages to spider. Once OptiSpider has been unlocked you may enter as many pages as you want. If the screens change to show this, you have succeeded in unlocking the program.

If You Encountered Problems

It is worthwhile to point out here that in the past two years, since OptiLink, the first OptiTool, was released, there have been NO reports of installation errors other than Java not being the latest version or having multiple version of Java installed, and those problems have occurred only in Windows.

I entered my authorization key, but my OptiTools program did not unlock.

Step 1: Verify that the authorization key is entered correctly. The safest way to be sure the key is entered correctly is to copy if from the email and paste it into the setup screen.

Step 2: Verify that the OptiTools program is able to reach the internet in demo mode.
