Every link to the target page found by OptiLink is shown here. The URL identifies the linking page; the title tells us the topic of the linking page; and the link text is what the linking page says the target page is about (reputation). Click the column headers to sort alphabetically by any of the three columns.
My good friend Terry Plank at Academy Web Specialists (a leader in internet marketing education) was one of the select few to try OptiLink before everyone else. You can read his enthusiastic recommendation at <http://www.windrosesoftware.com/optilink>. The screen image below is the link analysis for Terry's site that made him such a believer. Notice the text of the links. In almost all cases, they could be more "keyword rich." Terry knows that. He teaches it! So how did this happen to an industry expert?
Terry is quoted everywhere and has articles all over the internet. Like any great internet marketer he has a Bio and home page link attached to every one of these pieces. Hmmm, guess what the link says? Also notice the couple of really powerful, keyword rich links in this list. More like that would be good.
Michael Campbell, one of the net's most creative search engine and internet marketing experts, pointed out a simple reputation enhancing strategy to his newsletter readers a while back: don't link back to your home page from your internal pages with the text "Home Page." What are the search engines going to do with that? Decide that your page is about homes? Use your primary keyword phrase instead.
When you're really popular, reputation can be hard to control. Using OptiLink to catalog and inspect the actual links from time to time can help control and improve link reputation.
