An Open Letter From Leslie Rohde
December 23, 2006
Dear Friend,
This is a hard letter to write, but these things must be said. Here's the bottom line:
Now, let me explain what this means to you. More specifically, let me show you why this is EXCELLENT for your business.
If you're reading this special letter, then you're most likely one of my long time clients and/or subscribers.
So you probably know that I'm the guy who invented the term "Link Reputation", the ground breaking technique of analyzing link text, and you probably know I'm the guy who invented Dynamic Linking, a revolutionary method that forces Google PageRank to work for your business.
Anyway - look up either of those terms on Google and you'll see over 81,000 combined results.
Pretty cool!
But here's where it gets interesting.
After a long, cold, hard look at my business and the businesses of my clients, I've made a discovery that has huge implications for your business.
Here it is:
I know that sounds weird coming from me, a guy who has helped over a hundred clients and thousands of OptiLink users get top rankings and make huge profits over the past five years ...but it's true none the less.
Now don't get me wrong. SEO is still critical to your business. Without search engine traffic, you're in trouble. No news there.
But the fact is, if you want a real business ...and you want long term sustainable profits,
...or pay someone else to master them for you.
Think about it. What good is all that traffic if you don't have a grip on
Now, this is the part where most guys would try to squeeze some money out of you and try to sell you a course that taught all that stuff, right?
But the truth is...
Sure, I can teach you SEO skills that will bring the search engines to their knees ...and I have the client success stories to prove it.
But there's more to business than that and I might be the only guy who's going to be honest enough with you to come clean. (I'd have told you sooner but I just now figured it out for myself!)
See, SEO is just one leg of the chair. No matter how good it is, without the other legs, you still don't have a chair. What most of my customers and clients really need is not more SEO, they need all the business and marketing stuff that I do not teach.
They need the whole package. Copywriting, web design, product development, and all that good stuff that makes fortunes.
If you don't have those skills, you will not last. Period.
But I can't do it all — I only teach SEO. And as long as my students are missing the other pieces, they will continue to struggle, no matter that they are "SEO experts". Of course, I could continue to teach SEO, knowing full well that it is just one part of the puzzle, and let my students somehow figure out the rest of it on their own, and the $500 an hour I get is not a bad living, but would that be ethical? I have decided that it is not!
I don't feel right about only giving you part of the solution. You deserve better. We all do.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not leaving for Tibet to be a monk. I'm still keeping and growing my software development company and still doing SEO research, but effective Janary 1, 2007 I am closing my monthly video-based SEO training and discontinuing my public consultancy entirely.
The OptiSmarts order form has already been taken down, the consulting offer on our website will be offline by year-end, and all current consulting clients are being phased out.
And that's leaving a lot of people wondering ...
I'm not trying to be cagey about it, but I just can't tell you yet. What I can say, is that you do have some GREAT news coming from me in the next couple of days ...but you're going to have to wait for it.
Expect another major announcement from me on January 1st.
Best Wishes this Holiday Season,
Leslie Rohde

Have an Optimal Day!
P.S. There are some more big changes happening over the holidays that I can't tell you about until the deals are actually signed, so watch for even more news before January 1st. You can stay up to date on what's going on at my SEO blog: http://www.optismarts.com
P.P.S. I know this is all probably a shock to you. It's important that you understand I'm not abandoning ship or anything. I'm simply making some major changes that will ultimately lead to:
Stay tuned, I have more to come.
